How do I use SF2 sounds in Audio Evolution?
Download an .sf2 pack at /audio-evolution, unzip it and, in the app, use Add Track, MIDI Instrument Track, Import. The app is from eXtream; AmostraLab only delivers the sound.
What is an SF2 file?
SF2 (SoundFont) is a sample-based sound bank. You play it in players, VST plugins, the Ableton extension and, on AmostraLab, convert it to Roland (SVZ, XPS) and Yamaha (YSFC) keyboard formats.
How does conversion work?
Create an account, pick the brand and keyboard (Roland Fantom/SVZ, XPS WAV, Yamaha YSFC…), send the SoundFont and download the finished pack. Each conversion uses 1 credit; you can send up to 5 files at once.
What does the SF2 editor do?
In the Editor you drop presets you don't need and download a lighter SoundFont. Each export uses 1 credit (same as a conversion). Handy before converting for the keyboard or loading Sampler. Still in beta: check the file in your DAW.
How do I use SoundFonts in Ableton Live?
Download the free extension at /ableton (with login), install it in Settings → Extensions and use Import SoundFont (.sf2). Needs Live with Extensions and Sampler (Suite). No credit.
